Is Canada getting out of line on NAFTA?

September 5, 2017 – First it was softwood lumber, then US dairy farmers. Now it’s dispute resolution, environmental and labor demands – even gender and LGBT rights.

“It appears the Canadian government under the direction of its liberal Foreign Minister, Chrystia Freeland, and chief NATA negotiator, Steve Verheul, are deliberately trying to further complicate NAFTA re-negotiation,” said Fred Baehner, IBNewsmag publisher. “We have hundreds, if not thousands, of small to medium-sized exporters here in the US who rely on NAFTA trade, and desperately want to see it continued.”

The intrusion of human rights issues into a trade treaty already under fire by our own government goes beyond the bounds needed to re-instate this valuable FTA.

If you disagree, or have another viewpoint on this important issue, please let me know. I’m all ears.
