OPIC and USAID combine to form a new international finance org

September 17, 2019 – The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Development Credit Authority are forming a new consolidated agency to better serve the developing world with better private capital.


The US International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC) is set to be launched on October 1, 2019, and will offer loans, guarantees, equity, political risk insurance, and grants and technical assistance to help support American investment in foreign markets.

Alison Germak, Director of Corporate Development at OPIC within its Small & Medium Enterprise is responsible for counseling US firms pursuing investments in over 100 emerging market countries. She will address members of International Trade Association of Greater Chicago this Thursday, September 19 with will an overview of the various tools the USDFC will offer.
