Panama readies for economic reopening

August 28, 2020 – CentralAmericaData reported today that following the implementation Panama’s reopening on September 7th, the construction industry and related activities (engineers, architects, project managers, contractors, moving and hauling services), the Panama Pacifico Special Economic Area, the Colon Free Zone and free zones, and private marinas will open for business.

The plan to reopen the economy that has remained partially closed due to the covid-19 outbreak was presented by the Minister of Commerce and Industries (MICI) and received the approval of the Cabinet Council. As we reported earlier, the Panama Canal is seeing signs of increased shipping traffic.
